May 2, 2013
Greetings everyone, I hope that you are enjoying the beautiful springtime weather. It is so good to see the trees and flower begin to bloom again. Speaking of springtime, the conference at Lake Blackshear was a success. There were 70 members in attendance, the training was great and the exchange of information was so helpful. For those of you that were not able to attend the spring conference, you will have another chance in the fall.
We held an open forum for the members to be able to ask questions of the group in hopes that there would be a city or county that had experienced their situation and offer an answer to what their particular need was. That forum really seemed to be very helpful and will be offered again at the fall conference.
The fall conference will be held at Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, Georgia on October 21st and 22nd. Please call 800-201-3205 for your reservations. The room rate this year will be $129.99, reservations must be made by or before September 23rd, 2013 to get the GABTO rate. Also, those dates are peak season for the leaves changing and getting a room will be difficult at best if you don't make reservations before the cutoff date. The conference fee will be $100.00 and will cover training material, breakfast and lunch. Please plan to attend.
On May 17th at 10:00a.m. there will be a board meeting in the city of Gainesville at 300 Henry Ward Way, the city's joint administration building. The training agenda will be planned at that meeting, so if you plan on attending or have any suggestions for training topics please forward those to either Debbie or myself. I want to reemphasize if you plan on attending the business meeting please notify one of us, we want to make sure there's enough room to accommodate everyone.
Once the fall conference is planned we will post the agenda and the registration forms, so please check the website frequently for updated information.
Looking forward to seeing you at Brasstown,
W. Nathaniel Norman
